HOLY SEE: OVER 2,200,000 FAITHUL “MET” THE POPE IN 2009

An estimated 2,243,900 faithful and pilgrims got to meet Benedict XVI during the public events held at the Vatican or in his residence of Castel Gandolfo in 2009, that is, during general and special audiences, liturgical celebrations and the Angelus. The news was released today by the Prefecture of the Papal Household.

The visit will mark the 1,950th anniversary of St. Paul’s shipwreck there, which tradition holds to have taken place in A.D. 60. APPLICATIONS FOR ADMISSION INTO CHURCH SCHOOLS

Applications for admission to classes at Kindergarten One, Kindergarten Two (Pregrade), and Year 1 level of Church Schools in Malta in 2010 will be received at the Secretariat for Catholic Education, Archbishop’s Curia, Floriana. €617,585 RAISED IN AID OF DAR TAL-PROVIDENZA

€617,585 were raised yesterday during the New Year’s Open Day organised  by Radio RTK for the Dar tal-Providenza in Siggiewi. This was the largest sum ever collected in fourteen annual editions. During the day, huge crowds filled the big tent in the parking lot of the Home. The Director, Fr Martin Micallef, thanked the hundred of volunteers who helped organise this Open Day, and most of all the Maltese people, including Maltese emigrants who generously gave their donations and who once again expressed their values of solidarity and generosity with the Dar tal-Providenza… Read more »
