The archbishop of Lima has called a Eucharistic and Marian conference in celebration of the Year for Priests and the Eucharistic vocation of the priesthood. Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani Thorne, archbishop of Lima, announced Wednesday the May 29-June 6 event. He placed the conference in the context of the continental mission called for in 2007 in Aparecida.

“Saints in love with Christ, witnesses of Christ, are needed,” the cardinal said in announcing the event. He exhorted all priests of the archdiocese to plan for the conference activities, so that parish groups will participate with Eucharistic fervor.

The conference will include a Marian procession, a family meeting, a parish Eucharistic week, a theological symposium, and meetings with the worlds of business and culture.
