Message by Bishop Joseph Galea-Curmi
Your Eminence Cardinal George, dear Fr Matthew, dear brothers and sisters of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Community,
On the joyful occasion of the feast of your Patron, St Thomas the Apostle, I extend to each one of you my heartfelt greetings and prayerful best wishes, on behalf of the Church in Malta.
St Thomas, who journeyed to India to proclaim the Risen Lord, reminds us that faith is not the absence of questions but the courage to encounter Christ and to proclaim him with conviction. His inspiring witness continues to strengthen the Syro-Malabar Church in its rich apostolic tradition and deep love for the Gospel.
As you celebrate your patronal feast, may you be renewed in your faith, united in hope, and strengthened in love. May your families continue to be vibrant domestic churches, your liturgical traditions remain a source of grace and identity, and your community be a living sign of Christ’s presence within our local Church in Malta. We are happy that you are here in Malta – your presence is an enrichment to our ecclesial life.
Thank you for the invaluable contribution you make through your faith, your witness, and your active participation in the life of the Church. Your heritage reminds us of the universal beauty and diversity of the Catholic Church.
Through the intercession of St Thomas the Apostle, may the Lord bless you abundantly, grant you peace and joy, and inspire you to continue being courageous disciples and joyful missionaries wherever you are.
May St Thomas pray for you and for all of us, that together we may always be rooted in faith, guided by tradition, and united in Christ’s love, so that we will always proclaim with St Thomas: “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28)
Happy Feast to you all! With my blessing and prayers.
✠ Joseph Galea-Curmi
