The mother of our city – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass on Family Day

The Collegiate of the Immaculate Conception, Bormla

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Int Marija l-isbaħ ġawhra, Inti l-Omm ta’ din il-belt”. Dan hu l-kliem sabiħ tal-Innu ‘Omm Beltna’, li intom tkantaw b’ferħ u b’għożża f’din il-parroċċa. Hu innu li jenfasizza l-preżenza ta’ Marija f’din il-belt iddedikata lilha.

Fl-Evanġelju tal-lum għadna kif smajna ġrajja speċjali fil-ħajja ta’ Ġesù fejn hi enfasizzata l-preżenza ta’ Marija. Hemm sentenza speċjali f’din il-ġrajja li tgħid hekk: “Omm Ġesù kienet hemm”… Read more »

A strong message comes from the desert – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass on the Second Sunday of Advent

The Parish Church of the Annunciation, Ħal Balzan

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Forsi ftit nindunaw, meta naqraw din is-silta mill-Evanġelju skont San Luqa, il-messaġġ qawwi li hemm fl-ewwel biċċa, meta smajna dawk il-ħafna ismijiet. Hawnhekk San Luqa qed jgħid fuq nies li storikament kienu jeżistu, u qegħdin fil-kotba tal-Istorja, għax kienu nies hekk imsejħa “importanti”, nies li kellhom il-poter. Għalhekk isemmi lil min kien jaħkem fuq il-post kollu, u anke lil min kellu poter fuq ċerti oqsma partikulari… Read more »

L-Evanġelju tal-lum huwa l-bidu tat-tielet kapitlu tal-Evanġelju ta’ San Luqa. L-ewwel żewġ kapitli se nisimgħuhom fil-ġimgħat li ġejjin għax huma l-ewwel u t-tieni kapitli tal-Evanġelju ta’ San Luqa li jitkellmu dwar it-tħabbira tat-twelid ta’ Ġwanni l-Battista, it-tħabbira tat-twelid ta’ Ġesù u t-twelid ta’ Ġesù. Imma t-tielet kapitlu jibda mill-ewwel b’dawk it-tliet snin li wasslu għall-predikazzjoni ta’ Ġesù, għall-mewt, u l-qawmien tiegħu mill-imwiet… Read more »

Matul l-omelija, il-Kardinal Silvano Maria Tomasi qal li bl-għażla tiegħu li jsir kavallier, Fra’ Matthew Festing iddedika ħajtu għall-missjoni tal-Ordni tal-Kavallieri ta’ San Ġwann, dik li tiddefendi l-fidi u li tkun għas-servizz tal-foqra.

Il-kardinal Tomasi qal li t-taqbida tal-Ordni llum hija miġġielda, mhux bix-xabla imma bil-ħidma ta’ karità b’risq il-foqra u l-morda… Read more »

Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every disease and every sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest.”
