Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. has appointed Fr Denis Schembri parish priest of St. Lucy’s parish in Mtarfa.
Fr Denis was born in 1951 and raised in St. Julians. He received his education at Stella Maris College, Gżira, and continued his tertiary education at the Faculty of Theology (Philosophy & Theology), University of Malta.
Fr Denis was ordained to the priesthood on 21st April 1975 and was appointed vice parish priest in Senglea. He also served as vice parish priest of Zabbar, and rector of Tal-Ibragg church and Pembroke church. Between 1992 and 2012 he served as a parish priest in the diocese of Turin in Italy.
The number of parishioners in Mtarfa is 2,300 gathered in 730 families.
