When a priest begins to pray less, his own faith is weakened and the Christian community he cares for suffers, says the prefect of the Congregation for Clergy.
Cardinal Cláudio Hummes said this in a letter he wrote for priests on the importance of prayer. It was released by the dicastery today.

On Wednesday, 9th December 2009, representatives of various Christian denominations attended an Ecumenical Service organised by the University Chaplaincy. Archbishop-Vincent-Nichols
The archbishop of Westminster is affirming that helping the poorest persons should be at the center of the climate change debate. Archbishop Vincent Nichols said this Saturday at a “Time to Pray” ecumenical service regarding the environment and climate change.

Unborn child
A proposal in the Italian Senate would recognize the rights of the unborn, affirming that every human being has juridical capacity from the moment of conception.
The bill was drafted by Carlo Casini, president of the Pro-Life Movement and Member of the European Parliament, and backed by leaders of the Italian Parliament: Maurizio Gasparri, Gaetano Quagliarello and Laura Bianconi. The measure was presented last Thursday… Read more »
Card. Sean Brady, president of the Irish Bishops’ Conference, and Mgr. Diarmuid Martin, archbishop of Dublin, will be in Rome next 11 December to meet Benedict XVI. The purpose of the meeting is to “share information and evaluations about the painful situation of the Church in Ireland following the recent publication of the ‘Murphy Commission Report’”.
