EU, 12 BILLION IN 2009 TO DEVELOPMENT, HEALTH, EDUCATION

In 2009, 140 developing countries benefited from the financial aids allocated by the European Commission to cooperation and humanitarian aids. Barroso’s Executive Committee adopted the 2010 Report on External Aids that, if we add up all entries, amount to about 12 billion euros, out of the EU’s total annual budget of 143 billion (9%).

CARITAS: FOOD CRISIS IS URGENT FOR G-8, G-20

G8 and G20 leaders for summit in Toronto

The international Caritas aid agency says world leaders meeting this weekend in Canada must focus on the rising food crisis. In a statement released Wednesday, Caritas affirmed the urgency of the food crisis, and urged the Group of Eight and Group of 20 representatives to tackle the problem when they meet this Friday through Sunday.
