Catechesis: The Apostolic Journey to Spain

Dear brothers and sisters, good morning and welcome!

Today I would like to share some reflections on the Apostolic Journey I made last week to Spain, visiting Madrid, Barcelona, the Abbey of Montserrat and the Canary Islands.

After the long journey in four African countries, this time I found myself immersed in a European country with an ancient and very rich Catholic tradition… Read more »

Treating others as God treats us – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa, Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Qegħdin fi żmien li mhux daqshekk diffiċli li nifhmu dak li kien hemm fit-Testment il-Qadim: “Għajn b’għajn u sinna b’sinna” (Mt 5:38). Kultant meta tismagħha, tieħu l-impressjoni li int għandek tivvendika ruħek, imma meta din daħlet fit-Testment il-Qadim, ma daħlitx biex tħeġġeġ lin-nies jivvendikaw ruħhom, imma daħlet bħala restrizzjoni. Fil-fatt, insibu fil-ktieb tal-Eżodu: “int tħallas ħajja b’ħajja, għajn b’għajn, sinna b’sinna, id b’id, riġel b’riġel, dabra b’dabra, ġerħa b’ġerħa, tbenġila bi tbenġila” (Eżodu 21:23-26)… Read more »

Compassion from the depths of the heart – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass on the 11th Sunday Ordinary Time

The Collegiate Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Naxxar

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Hemm kelma partikulari fl-Evanġelju tal-lum li turina xi ħaġa speċjali ħafna f’Ġesù. L-Evanġelju jgħid: “Ra n-nies u tħassarhom, għax kienu mdejqa u mitluqa qishom nagħaġ bla ragħaj” (Mt 9:36). Dil-kelma hi: “tħassarhom”. Bil-Malti, aħna ngħidu “titħassar” meta tara lil xi ħadd u jiddispjaċik għalih, tħoss simpatija għalih. Imma fil-fatt il-kelma kif inhi fl-Evanġelju hi ħafna aktar qawwija milli sempliċiment għax tarah, u titnikket, jew tħoss għalih… Read more »
