  St Peter's Basilica, the Vatican

Catechesis on Old Age

Dear brothers and sisters, good morning!

The biblical passage we have just heard concludes the Book of Job, a universal literary classic. On our catechetical itinerary, we meet Job when he was an old man. We encounter him as a witness of a faith that does not accept a “caricature” of God, but protests loudly in the face of evil until God responds and reveals his face… Read more »

We resemble the servant Jesus Christ – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Parish Church of St Publius, Floriana

“Il-Knisja f’Malta għandha storja twila ta’ għajnuna diretta lin-nies fil-bżonn permezz ta’  donazzjonijiet ta’ flus, ħwejjeġ u servizzi. Kuljum, kull ġimgħa u kull sena, il-poplu Malti jisma’, jinkuraġġixxi u jgħin nies fil-bżonn. Minn dejjem kellna tradizzjoni ta’ ħidma favur dawk li huma fil-bżonn; fil-fatt waħda mill-isbaħ karatteristiċi tal-Knisja tagħna hi l-ġenerożità tagħna b’risq oqsma ta’ emarġinazzjoni u faqar… Ftit huma l-appelli għall-għajnuna, f’Malta jew barra, li ma jkollhomx tweġiba ta’ ġenerożità li timpressjonak” (Djakonija u Ġustizzja, 6)… Read more »

Priesthood is to join the offering of Jesus – The Archbishop

Holy mass with the new priests

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mellieħa

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Ġesù ħin minnhom jgħid frażi li hemm bżonn nifhmuha u nixtarruha. “Il-Prinċep tad-dinja ġej. Kontra tiegħi xejn ma jista’ jagħmel; iżda ħalli d-dinja tagħraf li jiena nħobb lill-Missier u li nagħmel kif ordnali l-Missier” (Ġw 14:30-31). Xi jrid jgħid Ġesù? Ġesù konxju li waslet is-siegħa tiegħu. Kien ħabbarha għal darba, darbtejn, tlieta “li se jingħata f’idejn il-qassisin il-kbar, u l-kittieba; dawn jaqtgħuhielu għall-mewt, jerħuh f’idejn il-pagani, biex jiddieħku bih, u jagħtuh is-swat u jsallbuh” (Mt 20:18-19)… Read more »
