  • Solemnity of Saint Paul, Patron Saint of Malta 

    San Mark 16:15-20

    Jesus said to them, ‘Go into all the world; and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptised will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. These are the signs that will be associated with believers: in my name they will cast out devils; they will have the gift of tongues; they will pick up snakes in their hands and be unharmed should they drink deadly poison; they will lay their hands on the sick, who will recover.’

    And so the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven; there at the right hand of God he took his place, while they, going out, preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word by the signs that accompanied it…

Vatican calls on all faiths to join day of prayer for peace

Meetings about the collective agreement for educators in Church schools

Benedict XVI: ‘I am on a pilgrimage towards Home’

  • In a new letter, the Pope Emeritus speaks of his declining strength but says he is surrounded by ‘love and goodness’

  • Pope emeritus Benedict has sent a short letter to the editor of the Italian news daily Il Corriere della Sera.

    The Pope emeritus was responding to the many inquiries from readers as to how he is spending “this last period of his life.” Noting the “slow decline” of his “physical strength,” Benedict says in the letter that “interiorly, I am on a pilgrimage towards Home.” The former Roman Pontiff admits that “this last stretch of the road” is “at times difficult,” but says, “It is a great grace for me to be surrounded by a love and goodness that I could not have imagined.”

    Concluding his letter, Benedict said he considers the concern of the readers for his well-being as an “accompaniment” for the journey…
