Today’s Pentecost experience – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

24/05/2026   The Parish Church of the Annunciation, Balzan

Homily by Bishop Joseph Galea-Curmi

Pentecost is not simply remembering something that happened long ago in Jerusalem. Today, it is happening again. The same Spirit who descended upon the apostles like wind and fire is moving among us here and now. The same Spirit who transformed frightened disciples into courageous witnesses is descending today upon these nine sisters and brothers who will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation… Read more »

The opening words of Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical, Magnifica humanitas: On Safeguarding the Human Person in the Time of Artificial Intelligence, summarize its underlying reasons and purpose… Read more »

Power to create the new – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

24/05/2026   The Chapel of the Congregation Daughters of the Sacred Heart, Mellieħa

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Imtlew ilkoll bl-Ispirtu s-Santu” (Atti 2:4). Hekk naqraw fil-Ktieb tal-Atti tal-Appostli. Għid il-Ħamsin ifakkarna f’dal-jum: meta l-Ispirtu s-Santu niżel fuq l-appostli u bidilhom għal kollox. Huwa l-jum meta dixxipli li kienu mimlijin bil-biża’ saru xhieda qalbiena, meta bibien magħluqa nfetħu, meta s-skiet inbidel fi tħabbira, u meta d-dgħufija saret qawwa.

Iżda Għid il-Ħamsin mhuwiex biss tifkira ta’ ġrajja li seħħet elfejn sena ilu… Read more »

He helps him grow in love – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

22/05/2026   The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa, Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Tħobbni int? (Ġw 21:15). Din il-mistoqsija li għamel Ġesù fl-Evanġelju llum lil Xmun Pietru tolqotna għax mhux normali li fl-Evanġelju naraw mistoqsija bħal dik, imbagħad għal tliet darbiet. Mal-ewwel żgur nagħmlu l-konnessjoni kif Ġesù hawn jistaqsi lil Pietru għal tliet darbiet “tħobbni int?”, u kien Pietru li ftit qabel kien ċaħad lil Ġesù għal tliet darbiet.

Żgur li ninnutaw kif Ġesù jgħin lil Pietru, bil-mod kif jistaqsi u anke kif jittrattah wara dik iċ-ċaħda għal tliet darbiet, jgħinu biex joħroġ mill-iżball tiegħu, biex jaħfirlu, biex jifdih, biex jerġa’ jagħtih lura l-qawwa bħala ragħaj tal-Knisja… Read more »

Pope Leo prays the Spirit may help build a fraternal world where peace reigns

Regina Caeli, Pentecoste Sunday

24/05/2026   St Peter's Square, the Vatican

Għeżież ħuti, il-Ħadd it-tajjeb!

F’dis-Solennità ta’ Pentekoste għandna sejħa biex nikkuntemplaw id-don tal-Ispirtu s-Santu msawwab b’abbundanza fuq il-Knisja bikrija u, illum, irregalat mill-ġdid lill-membri tagħha bħala dawl u qawwa li jakkupanjawhom f’kull sitwazzjoni tal-ħajja.

Nistgħu nieqfu fuq aspett tal-immaġni tal-Ispirtu li ttina l-Liturġija tal-lum: L-Ispirtu jiftaħ il-bibien.  Infatti, l-Evanġelju jgħidilna: “id-dixxipli kienu flimkien imbeżżgħa mil-Lhud, bil-bibien magħluqa (Ġw 20,19) u fl-istess ħin, il-Ktieb tal-Atti tal-Appostli jirrakkuntalna li l-Ispirtu wasal bħala riħ qawwi (Atti 2,2), li fetaħ dawk il-bibien, xpruna lid-dixxipli biex joħorġu u jibdew ixandru l-Aħbar it-Tajba ta’ Kristu Rxoxt… Read more »

Your Excellency, Excellencies, distinguished guests, and faith leaders, first of all, I would like to convey the greetings of Archbishop Charles Scicluna, who is presently in hospital because of a knee injury.
