Looking back, with a vision for the future – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

Homily on the 400th anniversary from the Parish of Santa Marija, Għaxaq

The Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary, Għaxaq

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Ibqa’ magħna” (Lq 24:29). Dan huwa l-kliem li jgħidu lil Ġesù d-dixxipli li kienu mexjin lejn Għemmaws, kif smajna fl-Evanġelju. U Ġesù laqa’ t-talba tagħhom, u baqa’; anke meta ma baqgħux jarawh, baqa’ fosthom bi preżenza speċjali.

Illum din iċ-ċelebrazzjoni flimkien fil-knisja parrokkjali ta’ Ħal Għaxaq mhijiex biex niċċelebraw sempliċement anniversarju, imma hija storja ta’ grazzja: 400 sena ta’ preżenza ta’ Alla fost il-poplu tiegħu… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 29th April

Readings of the day

First Reading: 1 John 1:5-2,2
Psalm: 102:1-4,8-9,13-14,17-18

Gospel: Matthew 11:25-30

At that time Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Il-messaġġ tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Jien nixtieq nirringrazzjakom u nagħmlilkom kuraġġ. Din it-talba li nagħmlu mhix biss fuq l-isptar imma fuq il-professjonisti wkoll. Nirringrazzjawhom! Dan huwa mument ukoll li nirringrazzjaw tant nies iddedikati li lill-pazjent jagħtuh dinjità u kura; imma anke lill-Istat tal-ħidma kollha tiegħu; lilkom ukoll NGOs. Dan huwa mument fejn is-soċjetà ċivili permezz tagħkom qed tikkopera mal-Istat għall-ġid tal-persuna umana… Read more »
