Clarification from the Parish of Christ the King in Paola

We wish to clarify a report in the media entitled ‘Restaurant proposed on top of Paola parish church’.

Contrary to what has been reported, the parish has no intention of opening a restaurant on the roof of the church. The intention is to use a room in one of the existing belfries to house a small cafeteria for parishioners and visitors.

Tables and chairs will be placed outside but no additional structures will be added… Read more »

Let’s welcome everyone with an open heart as St Publius did – The Archbishop

Mass on the feast of St Publius

The Parish Church of St Publius, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Fl-antifona sabiħa ta’ San Publiju, li titkanta u tindaqq fil-festa solenni li nagħmlulu, kif jixraq, lil Publiju nagħtuh dan it-titlu sabiħ: O Melitæ digna proles – ‘Wild dehen ta’ Malta’. Ippermettuli din is-sena, naqsam magħkom ħsieb qasir, ispirat minn dan it-titlu li aħna nagħtu lil San Publiju, li wkoll hu taħt l-apside ta’ din il-Knisja.

Il-Kelma ‘Malta’ għandha żewġ etimoloġiji… Read more »

With a big heart – Bishop Galea-Curmi

  Saint Publius Parish Church, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Fil-ġrajja mqallba tat-tempesta li fiha sab ruħu l-ġifen li fuqu kien hemm Pawlu, li spiċċa f’nawfraġju ma’ gżira “jisimha Malta” (Atti 28:1), żgur li jolqotna ħafna l-Prinċep tal-gżira, Publju. Ftit hemm fuqu fl-Atti tal-Appostli, imma l-ftit li hemm jgħidilna ħafna fuq Publju li bir-raġun inqimuh bħala Patrun mhux biss tal-Furjana imma ta’ Malta.

Nixtieq li nsemmi tliet punti li joħorġu b’mod tant ċar fir-rakkont tal-Atti tal-Appostli, u li huma ta’ għajnuna għalina f’ħajjitna… Read more »

The Archbishop’s message to new deacons: Serve the Church with a gentle heart

Mass with the ordination of four new deacons

  St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta

Read more »

God wants the little we can give – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Mnejn nixtru l-ħobż biex dawn ikollhom x’jieklu?” (Ġw 6:5) Dan huwa l-kliem ta’ Ġesù li qal lil Filippu, u din hija l-ewwel reazzjoni ta’ Ġesù meta ra l-kotra ta’ nies ġejja lejh. Ġesù u d-dixxipli kienu marru u qagħdu bilqiegħda fuq l-għolja. Ra dawn in-nies ġejjin. Ir-reazzjoni tiegħu ma kinetx: Marelli, reġgħu ġew, ara x’ġej! Imma kienet li jagħraf il-bżonn tagħhom ta’ dak il-ħin: kellhom bżonn jieklu.

Meta staqsa dil-mistoqsija lil Filippu “mnejn nixtru l-ħobż” ma kinetx għax ried risposta minn Filippu biex jgħidlu fejn se jmur ħa jixtri… Read more »

When it was evening, the disciples of Jesus went down to the sea, embarked in a boat, and went across the sea to Capernaum. It had already grown dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. The sea was stirred up because a strong wind was blowing.
