Gospel: John 6:44-51

In those days, Jesus said to the crowd: “No one can come to me unless drawn by the Father who sent me; and I will raise that person up on the last day. It is written in the prophets, “And they shall all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me. Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God; he has seen the Father.

Very truly, I tell you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven… Read more »

The question we must ask – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Marru lejn Kafarnahum ifittxu lil Ġesù” (Ġw 6:24). Hekk naqraw fuq dawn in-nies fl-Evanġelju skont San Ġwann. Naraw din il-ħerqa kbira li kellhom biex isibu lil Ġesù. Fil-fatt l-Evanġelju jgħid li kien hemm dgħajsa waħda u raw li Ġesù ma kienx fiha, imbagħad stennew, ġew id-dgħajjes minn Tiberija u lanqas hemm ma kien Ġesù, imma tant riedu jsibu lil Ġesù li telgħu fuq id-dgħajjes huma u marru lejn Kafarnahum biex ifittxu lil Ġesù… Read more »

Serenity and courage – Bishop Galea-Curmi

  Pax et Bonum, Mosta

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Is-sliem għalikom” (Lq 24:36). Din hija t-tislima li jagħti Ġesù meta jidher lid-dixxipli tiegħu wara li qam mill-mewt. U kull meta jiltaqa’ magħhom, dejjem jagħtihom din it-tislima: “is-sliem għalikom”. Hija mhux biss tislima, imma hi fil-fatt realtà, għaliex Ġesù hu dak li jġib tassew il-paċi fil-qalb tad-dixxipli tiegħu. Niftakru li kien qalilhom dan fl-Aħħar Ċena, bħalma naqraw fl-Evanġelju skont San Ġwann: “Jien inħallilkom is-sliem… Read more »

Pope at Regina Caeli – It is important to share faith

  Saint Peter's Square, The Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, buongiorno, happy Sunday!

Today the Gospel takes us back to the evening of Passover. The apostles are gathered in the Upper Room, when the two disciples return from Emmaus and tell of their encounter with Jesus. And as they are expressing the joy of their experience, the Risen One appears to all the community. Jesus arrives precisely while they are sharing the story of the encounter with HimRead more »
