Daily Gospel – 16th March

Ġwanni 5,1-16

Wara dan, il-Lhud kellhom festa, u Ġesù tela’ Ġerusalemm. F’Ġerusalemm, maġenb il-menqgħa tal-Bieb tan-Nagħaġ, hemm bini b’ħames loġoġ, li bil-Lhudi jgħidulu Betzata. F’dawn il-loġoġ kienet toqgħod kotra ta’ morda, għomja, zopop u mifluġin. U kien hemm raġel li kien ilu tmienja u tletin sena marid. Ġesù rah qiegħed hemm, u meta sar jaf li kien ilu marid dak iż-żmien kollu qallu: “Trid tfiq?” “Sinjur?” wieġbu  l-marid,”ma għandix min jitfagħni fil-menqgħa xħin jitqanqal l-ilma, għax waqt li nkun sejjer jien ħaddieħor jinżel qabli.” Qallu Ġesù: “Qum, aqbad friexek u imxi?” Minnufih dak ir-raġel fieq, qabad friexu u beda miexi… Read more »

BENEDICT XVI VISITS LUTHERANS TO PROMOTE UNITY

Pope Benedict XVI

Today Benedict XVI visited a Lutheran church in Rome with the purpose of promoting unity by emphasizing the ways in which Catholics and other Christians bear common witness to Christ.

In the German-language service, in which both the Pope and a Lutheran pastor gave homilies, the Pontiff affirmed, “We hear many laments about the fact that there are no new developments in ecumenism, but we must say, and we can say it with much gratitude, that there have already been elements of unity.”

In his address, which the Holy Father delivered without a written script, he invited his listeners to be thankful for the fact that “we are here together on this Laetare Sunday, that we sing together, that we listen to the Word of God together, that we listen to each other, all looking to the one Christ and, thus, rendering testimony to the one Christ.”

Benedict XVI was welcomed with prolonged applause in the Christuskirche on the Via Sicilia in Rome… Read more »

Ġwanni 4,43-54

Wara dawk il-jumejn Ġesù telaq minn hemm lejn il-Galilija; għax Ġesù stess xehed li profeta ma għandux ġieħ f’pajjiżu. Mela meta wasal il-Galilija, il-Galilin laqgħuh tajjeb billi lkoll raw kull ma kien għamel f’Ġerusalemm f’jum il-festa, għax huma wkoll kienu marru għall-festa. U raġa’ ġie f’Kana tal-Galilija, fejn kien biddel l-ilma fi nbid. Issa f’Kafarnahum kien hemm uffiċjal tas-sultan u kellu lil ibnu marid… Read more »

Pope Benedict XVI

Daily Gospel – 14th March

Luqa 15, 1-32

Il-pubblikani u l-midinbin kienu jersqu bi ħġarhom biex jisimgħuh. U kemm il-Fariżej u kemm il-kittieba kienu jgemgmu u jgħidu: “Nies midinba jilqa’ għandu dan u jiekol magħhom?” U Ġesù qabad u qalilhom din il-parabbola: “Kien hemm raġel li kellu żewġ ulied. Iż-żgħir qal lil missieru, ‘Missier, agħtini s-sehem li jmiss lili mill-ġid.’ U dak qassmilhom il-ġid. Ma kinux għaddew wisq ġranet, meta ż-żgħir sarr kollox u telaq minn beltu lejn pajjiż imbiegħed, u hemmhekk berbaq ġidu kollu f’ħajja mtajjra… Read more »

‘YOU’RE NOT NORMAL…’ MEN AND WOMEN VICTIMS OF ABUSE IN INTIMATE RELATIONSHIPS

“Jekk narak tkellem lil raġel ieħor nifqagħlek wiċċek”. “Min iridek?” “M’intix normali… kieku inti raġel normali jkollok x’taqsam miegħi”. “Jekk ma noħroġx miegħek jien min tridu jiġbrok?” “Kemm int maħmuġ…” “Riħa ta’ annimali”…

Dawn huma biss uħud minn ħafna frażijiet ta’ abbuż li qalgħu mingħand ‘il-maħbubin’ tagħhom żgħażagħ ta’ etajiet differenti li tkellmu ma’ IL-ĠENSILLUM online fl-aħħar ġimgħat.

L-abbuż fir-relazzjonijiet ‘intimi’ jew aħjar relazzjonijiet bejn koppja li qed joħorġu flimkien, fi stadji differenti tar-relazzjoni li tista’ twassal għal żwieġ huma aktarx iżjed frekwenti milli naħsbu… Read more »
