The ‘Grupp Żgħażagħ Gudja’, with the support of RTK4Charity, will be organising the first edition of “Walk, Cycle, Run” in aid of Id-Dar tal-Providenza on Sunday 28th September 2014. This activity, that the organisers explained is not a marathon or a competition with an eventual winner, is built on three different sports disciplines.
A Walk – that starts from the main square in Siġġiewi at 8.45am
A Cycle – that starts from the square in front of Mdina Cathedral at 9.15am
A Run – starting from in front of the Żurrieq Parish Church at 9.15am
The three activities will end up at Id-Dar tal-Providenza though at different times. A donation in aid of the Home is being requested from all those taking part.
Whilst describing this activity as a national event, Stefan Caruana from the Gudja Youth Group said that youths and other persons taking part represent different sectors of Maltese society and they will be participating in a collective and sporting activity. However, it is not just a walk, a cycle and a run but it symbolises a particular aspect that although there are differences in characters and ideas, when there is coordination the main aim is guaranteed especially when the sense of volunteering is highlighted.
