The Faculty of Theology is inviting the public to the book launch of Love Alone, a thought-provoking work by Professor John Berry on the Trinity and the Paschal Mystery as understood through the lens of the renowned theologian, Hans Urs von Balthasar. The launch will take place in the exquisite Chapel of the Holy Crucifix at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Mdina on Tuesday, 28th March at 6:45 pm.

The event will draw inspiration from the impressive wooden crucifix sculpted by the Sicilian Franciscan Fra Inocenzo in 1640, that was donated to the Cathedral by Bishop Fra Giovanni Balaguer da Camarasa, as well as the stunning work of inlaid marble designed by the Maltese Artist Francesco Zahra in 1765 that adorns the floor of the Holy Crucifix or Relics Chapel.

This book is an invitation to anyone who wishes to understand the paschal mystery more fully as well as experience the new life of resurrection. Balthasar holds that only if transformed by God’s love can one journey towards the gift of resurrection, become contemplative in action, and live in unison with the Trinity.

Distinguished panelists including Professors Keith Sciberras and Yvonne Dohna Schlobitten, Monsignor Hector Scerri, and the Honorable Evarist Bartolo will contribute to the event by sharing their insights.

Refreshments will be served following the presentations. The book will be available for purchase through a donation (€ 10 / € 15 / € 20 ), with all proceeds going towards supporting Bjorn (ALS Malta). While we hope you will join us for an evening of insightful discourse, beautiful surroundings, and warm hospitality, kindly register here.

John Anthony Berry is Professor of Fundamental and Dogmatic Theology and the former Dean of the Faculty of Theology at the University of Malta.
