DETAILS ON THE PAPAL MASS, ON THE GRANARIES IN FLORIANA

A press conference was held on Tuesday 23rd March 2010, during which the Interdiocesan Committee responsible for the Papal Visit, gave details regarding the Mass which will be celebrated by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, on the Granaries, on Sunday 18th April.

DETAILS ON THE POPE’S TRIP ACROSS THE HARBOUR ANNOUNCED

On Tuesday, 16th March, 2010, the Organizing Committee for the Pope’s visit announed the details of the activities taking place at Kalkara and on the Pope’s trip across the Grand Harbour. Boat owners have been invited to escort the Pope who will be on board a catamaran. YOUTHS CONTINUE THEIR JOURNEY WITH CROSS AND ICON

On Sunday, 7th March, 2010, the World Youth Day Cross and Icon replica were taken to Iklin parish. The activity started with a symbolic walk around the parish centre and was followed by Mass. The youths expressed their thoughts on the Pope’s upcoming visit saying that “the Pope’s visit should act as a reminder of the Good News, which is addressed to all those who still yearn to be part of the Catholic Church”… Read more »

MASTER OF PONTIFICIAL CELEBRATIONS IN MALTA IN PREPARATION FOR POPE’S VISIT

On Tuesday, 2nd March, 2010, Msgr. Guido Marini, Master of Pontifical Liturgical Celebrations, arrived in Malta from the Vatican.  Msgr. Marini held a number of meetings with the organizers of the Pope’s visit, especially with those involved in the liturgical celebrations. Msgr. PLANS FOR ACTIVITIES RELATED TO POPE’S MEETING WITH YOUTHS UNVEILED

On Tuesday, 2nd March, 2010, further details were given about the Pope’s meeting with youths at the Valletta Waterfront to be held on Sunday 18th April. This activitity will include a concert by Malta’s top Christian bands, and a guest appearance by the popular band Winter Moods. SCHEMES IN PREPARATION OF POPE’S VISIT

The Theological Commission of the Church in Malta has just published a book with extracts from Pope Benedict XVI’s teachings. Fr Hector Scerri, the President of the Theological Commission, said that this book can help Christians prepare themselves for Easter and for the Pope’s visit to Malta. These exctracts have been taken from the Pope’s writings and speeches. The booklet is divided into 18 schemes, all focusing on particular aspects of the Pope’s teachings… Read more »

YOUTHS CROSS AND ICON ARRIVE IN PAOLA

On Sunday, 28th February, 2010, ŻAK groups from Tarxien and Paola grouped up with other youths to organize an activity in Paola in preparation for Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Malta.

PRESS BRIEFING ON POPE’S VISIT AS ARRIVAL DATE DRAWS CLOSER

On Tuesday, 23rd February, 2010, the Interdiocesan Organising Committee and the National Organising Committee of the Pope’s visit to Malta organised a Press Briefing for Editors of local news agencies. During this well attended business breakfast, news editors were free to ask questions and mention their suggestions on the media arrangements for the Pope’s visit to Malta. The Archbishop’s delegate for Social Communications, Fr Charles Tabone O.P, and the Director General of the Department of Information, Mr Martin Bugelli, invited representatives of television, radio and print media to participate in a series of weekly press briefings to be held in the coming weeks as part of the build up leading to the Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Malta… Read more »

MORE ACTIVITIES ORGANISED BY YOUTHS IN QORMI

On Sunday, 21st February, 2010, the Cross and Icon, replicas of those given by Pope John Paul II during World Youth Day, were taken to the Parish Church of Saint Sebastian, Qormi. For this event, during which Mass was celebrated, the PLYG youth (Pastoral Liturgical Youth Group) from Saint Sebastian’s Parish grouped up with the youth from Saint George’s Parish.
