Last Sunday 2 October, Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone S.D.B. represented the Holy Father at the beatification of Antonia Maria Verna (1773-1838). The beatification ceremony was held in the cathedral of Ivrea, Italy.

Archbishop Dominique Mamberti
An official from the Vatican secretariat of state is reflecting on the main problems affecting the family in which everyone plays a part: the “family of nations” with its “profound interdependence.”
Archbishop Dominique Mamberti, the secretary for Relations with States, addressed the U.N. 66th General Assembly on Tuesday.

On Saturday 1st October 2011, Mgr Emanuel Barbara OFM Cap was ordained Bishop of Malindi in Kenya. The ceremony which started at 9am and ended at 2pm (local time in Malta) was held in the grounds of a primary school in the city of Malindi.

Pope Praying
Benedict XVI will be praying in October that the dying will find support in the love of their brothers and sisters.
The Apostleship of Prayer announced the intentions chosen by the Pope for the upcoming month.
His general intention is for the terminally ill: “That the terminally ill may be supported by their faith in God and the love of their brothers and sisters.”
His mission intention is: “That the celebration of World Mission Day may foster in the People of God a passion for evangelization with the willingness to support the missions with prayer and economic aid for the poorest Churches.”
