Wednesday 11th January 2012 – The WYD Song Contest is officially open. Local bands can participate by entering an original composition on the theme: “Rejoice in the Lord, always” (Phil 4,4).

The Office of Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff has introduced certain modifications to the ordinary public consistories for the creation of new cardinals. The rites followed until now have been revised and simplified, with the Holy Father’s approval. On Saturday 7th January 2012, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. met the Catechetical Commission of the parish of St. Joseph the Worker, Birkirkara as part of his pastoral visit to the parish. Later on, the Archbishop met the Diaconia Commission of the same parish.

As from today, Tuesday 10th January 2012, parish priests hailing from the 70 parishes in Malta, are attending a three-day Live in, together with Archbishop Paul Cremona OP. The theme chosen for this year’s Live-in is “The Maltese Diaspora and the Church’s role as a beacon”.
The word ‘diaspora’ originated at the time of the Jewish exile. The Jews lost their land and everything which gave them their identity as the people of God. … Read more »

January Pope's prayer intentions
Benedict XVI will be praying this month for the victims of natural disasters.
The Apostleship of Prayer announced the intentions chosen by the Pope for January.
His general intention is “that the victims of natural disasters may receive the spiritual and material comfort they need to rebuild their lives.”
The Pontiff’s mission intention is focused on peace: “That the dedication of Christians to peace may bear witness to the name of Christ before all men and women of good will.”
