CENTRALISED OFFICES FOR THE SECRETARIAT FOR CATHOLIC EDUCATION

On Friday 14th October 2011, Archbishop Paul Cremona visited and blessed the new premises assigned to the Secretariat for Catholic Education which are located at the Mall, Floriana.  The Secretariat’s offices were previously located at the Archbishop’s Curia and were transferred during the summer months. It took several years for the premises which house the new offices to be ready. On Friday 14th October 2011, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. ordained eight deacons at St. Catherine’s Church, Zejtun, during a concelebrated Mass. During his general audience this morning the Holy Father dedicated his catechesis to Psalm 126 which, he said, “celebrates the great things which the Lord has done for His people, and which He continues to do for all believers”.
The Psalm “speaks of ‘restored fortunes’”, the Pope explained, “in other words, fortunes restored to their original state”. THE SOCIAL WORK CARRIED OUT BY THE CHURCH WITH THE ELDERLY

One of the branches of the social work of the Church is the service it offers among the elderly, a service which is subsidized considerably. The Church has under its direct responsibility five homes in which 303 persons reside. Besides these homes, there are nine others which are run by members of religious orders and which house 359 residents.
