Diocesan Activity for Peace in the World and for Persecuted Christians

The Archdiocese of Malta wishes to invite Christians to attend an activity which will consist of prayer for peace in the world and for Christians who are being persecuted in various countries. Following an appeal for prayer, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. and Auxiliary Bishop Charles J. Scicluna have expressed their desire for Christians to unite in prayer with Pope Francis, who is continually appealing for peace in various countries which are facing wars and conflicts, and for those communities of Christians which are suffering from violence because of their faith…

Pope Francis renewed his call for prayer and concrete assistance for the suffering populations of Iraq this Sunday. Addressing the crowd gathered in St Peter’s Square for the traditional Angelusprayer, the Holy Father also offered prayerful appeals for an end to the fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas militants in Gaza, and for the victims of the Ebola outbreak and for all those fighting to stop it…

In the first General Audience since his summer break Pope Francis resumed his Catechesis on the Church and the People of God, but his mind was also on the tensions and recent conflict in the Middle East and an earthquake in China which last Sunday left hundreds dead and over two thousand injured.
