Watch: Conclusions of the meeting of media officers and spokespersons of the Bishops’ Conferences in Europe

Day 2: Meeting of media officers and spokespersons of the Bishops’ Conferences in Europe

  • The second day of the CCEE meeting in Malta started with the media officials sharing and discussing their experiences on how they dealt with crisis situations related to economic and transparency issues, child and sexual abuse, refugee arrivals and the relationship with the institutions. 

    Dr Paolo Ruffini, Prefect of the Dicastery for Communication of the Holy See, spoke about the ongoing process of reforming the Vatican’s communications structure and suggested tools for working together to continue the mission of the Church…

Abortions in England and Wales hit record level

  • Abortions in England and Wales have hit a record level, according to statistics released by the British government.

    Figures published online June 13 by the Department of Health revealed that abortions in 2018 rose by 4 per cent from the previous year.

10 bursaries for theological and pastoral studies at the University of Malta

  • The Foundation for Theological Studies of the Archdiocese of Malta is once again offering a bursaries scheme to encourage more individuals to engage in theological and pastoral studies within the Faculty of Theology at the University of Malta. The aim of the scheme is to empower laypeople to be actively involved within the Church and in society.

    For the academic year 2019-2020, the Foundation is offering 10 bursaries of €2,000 to students enrolling in any of the following courses:

    • Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Theology (part-time)
    • Master of Arts in Bioethics
    • Master of Arts in Business Ethics
    • Master of Arts in Environmental Ethics
    • Master of Arts in Theology
    • Master of Arts in Religious Studies
