Pope Francis on Sunday invited young people around the world to perform “gestures of tenderness” toward the elderly, as many are forced into isolation to observe Covid-19 health guidelines.

The Vatican’s Dicastery for Laity, Family, and Life quickly answered that call and launched “The elderly are your grandparents” campaign.

Kindness for the elderly

In a communiqué released on Monday, the Dicastery invited young people “to do something that shows kindness and affection for older people who may feel lonely.”

Fr Alliston Fernandes and Fr Francis D’Sousa, two priests from the ICPE Mission Priests were incardinated into the Archdiocese of Malta during a ceremony presided by Archbishop Charles Jude Scicluna.

In 2015, Archbishop Scicluna gave permission to set up a house for the formation of future ICPE Mission priests within the archdiocesan seminary of Malta. The President of the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union expresses gratitude for the deal reached by the bloc for an almost €2 trillion budget and coronavirus recovery fund.

Reacting to the historic agreement reached by EU leaders early Tuesday on a €750 billion coronavirus recovery fund and the bloc’s long-term budget, Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich said he is thankful for “a solution which expresses solidarity inside the European Union.”
