Gospel: John 6:30-35

The crowd said to Jesus: “What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you? What can you do? Our ancestors ate manna in the desert, as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”

So Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave the bread from heaven; my Father gives you the true bread from heaven… Read more »

He accompanies us on our journey through life – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Chapel of St. Paul's Shipwreck, Attard

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“B’ħarsa ta’ niket fuq wiċċhom” (Lq 24:17). Dan hu l-mod kif San Luqa, fl-Evanġelju tiegħu, jiddeskrivi lil dawn iż-żewġ dixxipli li kienu mexjin minn Ġerusalemm lejn raħal jismu Għemmaws. Hemm xi seba’ mili minn post għal ieħor, u dawn kienu mexjin; imma li jinnota l-Evanġelju huwa kif dawn kienu mnikktin, kienu diżappuntati. Kienu għadhom kif għaddew mill-ġrajja – li għalihom kienet trawma – tal-mewt ta’ Ġesù… Read more »

A boy who offered what he had – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa, Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Hawn tfajjel” (Ġw 6:9). Meta, f’din il-ġrajja kollha, naraw dawk l-eluf ta’ nies, u Ġesù qed jara kif se jagħmel biex jitmagħhom, u jiġi wieħed mill-appostli, Indrì, jgħidlu “hawn tfajjel”, qisha tidher xi ħaġa ta’ kuntrast. Ma’ dak il-kobor kollu hemm xi ħadd żgħir. X’jista’ jagħmel dan biex jgħin fis-soluzzjoni tal-problema li kellhom, li dawk in-nies kellhom bżonn x’jieklu u Ġesù jagħtihom? … Read more »

Archdiocese rejects false, defamatory and misleading claims in The Shift News

The Archdiocese of Malta categorically rejects the false and misleading claims published by The Shift News in an article titled ‘Anger within Curia over costly conversion of ODZ farmhouse for Archbishop Scicluna’.

The article constructs a narrative that bears little or no resemblance to the facts. A property which is currently not habitable has been falsely portrayed as a venue being used by the Archbishop to host “private gatherings with friends” at weekends… Read more »

We seek Him, not what we can take from Him – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa, Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Marru lejn Kafarnahum ifittxu lil Ġesù” (Ġw 6:24). Dan l-Evanġelju jurina lin-nies ifittxu lil Ġesù. U meta tara dan minn barra, tgħid: kemm hi ħaġa sabiħa li n-nies ifittxu li jkunu fejn Ġesù; u ma jikkuntentawx ruħhom għax jgħidu “fittixna u ma sibniehx”, imma komplew ifittxu sakemm isibuh.

Imma Ġesù kien qed jara ħaġa oħra. Ma kienx qed jara biss dak li jidher minn barra – li n-nies qed ifittxuh – imma kien qed jara l-intenzjoni: għalfejn qed ifittxuh? … Read more »

St Publius’ mantle is a testament to a heart that offers shelter – The Archbishop

Mass on the third Sunday of Easter and the feast of St Publius

The Parish Church of St Publius, Floriana

Fil-bidu tas-seklu 19, Vincenzo Dimech tana din l-istatwa straordinarjament sabiħa ta’ San Publiju. U waqt li segwa l-ikonografija tradizzjonali tal-qaddis protos tagħna, libbsu kappa sabiħa minn lewn id-demm: id-demm tal-ħajja, tax-xhieda u tal-imħabba. Din is-sena l-parroċċa għażlet li tirrifletti fuq din il-kappa. Imma għalina l-kappa li liebes San Publiju fl-istatwa, hi tant għażiża mhix biss għall-Furjaniżi, imma għalina l-Maltin u l-Għawdxin. Din il-kappa, xi tfisser? … Read more »
