Growing together in Lasallian spirituality – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

ASSEDIL Congress in Malta

Homily by Bishop Joseph Galea-Curmi

Dear brothers and sisters,
dear Lasallian School Leaders and Educators,

Today’s Gospel, taken from John 21, brings us to the shores of the Sea of Tiberias. It is a quiet, mysterious, deeply human encounter – the Risen Christ appearing to his disciples who have gone fishing. It is a moment of reconnection, recognition, and renewal. It is also, I believe, a Gospel with much to say to us today, to you as Lasallian leaders gathered here in Malta for your Congress, having as theme “Growing Together in Lasallian Spirituality” – this year, in fact, is the year of Lasallian Spirituality… Read more »

A presence that brings change – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

Homily by Bishop Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Ħdejn il-baħar ta’ Tiberija” (Ġw 21:1). Hawnhekk Ġesù jiltaqa’ mad-dixxipli tiegħu, u din hi ġrajja verament sabiħa, it-tielet darba li jidher lid-dixxipli wara l-qawmien mill-imwiet. Turi lil Ġesù qed jiltaqa’ ma’ dawn id-dixxipli proprju fil-post fejn huma marru biex jistadu. Din mhijiex ġrajja li sseħħ fit-tempju jew f’xi post meqjus importanti, jew laqgħa spettakolari, imma hi ġrajja familjari, fejn Ġesù jiltaqa’ ma’ dawn id-dixxipli li kienu ddeċidew li jmorru jistadu… Read more »

Trump and Zelensky discuss peace plans in St Peter’s Basilica

From the very beginning of Russia’s war in Ukraine, Pope Francis continuously offered to mediate to help bring about peace. He appealed for an end to the war at almost every public appearance, and his prayers for “martyred Ukraine” became a familiar refrain.

The late Pope’s calls were, above all, calls for dialogue – for key players to come together and find a way to put an end to the conflict… Read more »
