Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb.

So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” Then Peter and the other disciple set out and went toward the tomb. The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent down to look in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he did not go in.

Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb… Read more »

Christmas is the fullness of love given freely – The Archbishop

Mass on Christmas Day

  St Paul's Cathedral, Mdina

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Għadna kemm smajna innu tassew antik li l-komunità kienet titlob fil-liturġija, fit-talb tagħha biex tiċċelebra dak li qegħdin infakkru llum: l-Iben t’Alla sar bniedem. U dan l-innu liturġiku daħal ukoll fil-Evanġelju skont San Ġwann, l-aħħar Evanġelju li nkiteb.

F’din in-nisġa ta’ ħsibijiet niltaqgħu mal-identità ta’ Ġesù. Huwa l-Kelma ta’ Alla. Huwa d-dawl, il-ħajja. Huwa wkoll l-Iben t’Alla magħmul bniedem… Read more »

Let us pause for a moment on this image, shadowRead more »

The call to responsibility with the birth of Jesus – The Archbishop

Midnight Mass

  St Paul's Cathedral, Mdina

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Nixtieq nirringrazzja liċ-ċkejken Samuel li fil-prietka tradizzjonali tat-tifel ġabar is-sinifikat profond ta’ dan il-misteru. Ma nafx x’jista’ jżid l-Isqof ma’ dak li qalilna Samuel illejla. Fil-ħsieb qasir tiegħi nixtieq li flimkien nimmeditaw fuq kelma li qalilna l-Appostlu Missierna San Pawl f’ittra li kiteb fix-xjuħija tiegħu waqt li kien pruginier Ruma lil wieħed mid-dixxipli żgħażagh tiegħu, Titu: “Dehret il-grazzja ta’ Alla” (Tit 2:11)… Read more »

Christmas message by Archbishop Charles Jude Scicluna

Message by Archbishop Charles Jude Scicluna

On this holy Christmas night, we remember the beautiful message delivered by the angels to the shepherds of Bethlehem: “Glory to God in the highest heaven and peace on Earth” (Lk 2:14). Peace on Earth for those who God truly loves; peace on Earth for all those of good will.

This year, as we think of and gaze upon the Holy Land, let us pray eagerly for peace and mourn for the thousands of victims of man’s cruelty… Read more »
