Pope Francis to address COP28 Summit in Dubai

A Holy See Press Office statement released on Thursday, 9 November, said Pope Francis is scheduled to deliver a speech at the COP28 Summit taking place in Dubai, as well as engage in several bilateral meetings and inaugurate the “Faith Pavilion” at Expo City.

According to the official programme for the Pope’s visit to Dubai from 1 to 3 December, it takes place on the occasion of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28)… Read more »

The Archdiocese of Malta is currently holding an exhibition to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the death of Francesco Zahra, one of Malta’s foremost Baroque artists. Since the Passover of the Jews was near, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. He found in the temple area those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves, as well as the money-changers seated there. He made a whip out of cords and drove them all out of the temple area, with the sheep and oxen, and spilled the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables, and to those who sold doves he said, “Take these out of here, and stop making my Father’s house a marketplace.”

His disciples recalled the words of scripture, “Zeal for your house will consume me.” At this the Jews answered and said to him, “What sign can you show us for doing this?” Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.” The Jews said, “This temple has been under construction for forty-six years, and you will raise it up in three days?”

Il-Kċina ta’ Marta inaugurated: 1,200 free meals a week for people in need

Archbishop Charles Scicluna inaugurated ‘Il-Kċina ta’ Marta’, another initiative of the Church in Malta aimed at helping those currently going through difficult times. Around 350 people a week are receiving the 1,200 free meals prepared by the 30 volunteers of Il-Kċina ta’ Marta at the Archbishop’s Seminary in Tal-Virtù. An additional 20 volunteers handle meal distribution to the homes of those who are housebound. F’għeluq il-175 sena minn meta nfetħet l-ewwel skola tal-Knisja f’Malta Newsbook tkellem ma’ Fr Leslie Gatt, Provinċjal tal-Patrijiet Agostinjani għaliex propja l-ewwel skola kienet dik ta’ Santu Wistin.
