Prayer for Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament.
I love You above all things.

The Gospel of the day: 27th October

First Reading: Romans 7:18-25a
Psalm: 118 (119):66,68,76,77,93,94

Gospel: Luke 12:54-59

In those days, Jesus said to the crowds, “When you see a cloud rising in the west, you immediately say, ‘It is going to rain’; and so it happens. And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, ‘There will be scorching heat’; and it happens. You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky, but why do you not know how to interpret the present time? And why do you not judge for yourselves what is right?

Thus, when you go with your accuser before a magistrate, on the way make an effort to settle the case, or you may be dragged before the judge, and the judge hand you over to the officer, and the officer throw you in prison. I tell you, you will never get out until you have paid the very last penny.” Read more »

Embracing diversity and making a difference

The religious counsellors and chaplains working in State and Independent schools gathered to share their ideas and experiences on how they can continue nurturing the Christian faith, promoting inclusivity, and addressing the spiritual needs of various communities in schools.

They recognized the importance of having a model of faith through actions, values, and relationships with the different members of the school community. They also emphasized that multiculturalism among students should encourage religious counsellors to continue being a means of dialogue with students and educators… Read more »

Pope at Audience: To be creative, to be constant and to be humble

  Saint Peter's Square, The Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, good morning!

Today I will talk to you about two brothers, very famous in the east, to the point of being called “the apostles of the Slavs”: Saints Cyril and Methodius. Born in Greece in the ninth century into an aristocratic family, they renounced a political career to devote themselves to monastic life. But their dream of a secluded existence was short-lived… Read more »

With a sense of gratitude and a forward look – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Saint Sebastian's Parish Church, Ħal Qormi

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“It-tagħlim hu l-għajn ta’ kull ġid”. Din hi espressjoni ta’ San Ġorġ Preca, qaddis Malti, u fiha niftakar mal-ewwel meta nara l-istorja sabiħa tal-Agostinjani fl-edukazzjoni f’pajjiżna. Propju llum qed niċċelebraw il-175 sena mit-twaqqif tal-ewwel skola tal-Agostinjani f’Malta li kienet l-ewwel skola tal-Knisja b’xejn, u dan sew qabel l-introduzzjoni tas-sistema edukattiva obbligatorja għal kulħadd.

Kif smajna, din l-iskola kienet tifforma parti mill-kunvent tal-Agostinjani fil-Belt Valletta… Read more »

Major project to save the Chapel of the Annunciation in Siġġiewi

Bdew ix-xogħlijiet ta’ restawr u l-konsolidazzjoni taħt l-art tal-kappella storika tal-Lunzjata, fiż-żona magħrufa bħala Tal-Għolja tas-Siġġiewi, b’investiment ta’madwar €1.4 miljun.

Din il-kappella qed tiffaċċja r-riskju imminenti ta’ kollass, primarjament minħabba sfidi ġeoloġiċi u ġeomorfoloġiċi assoċjati mat-terren sottostanti tagħha. Tant hu hekk li parti mis-saqaf diġà ċediet, u s-saqaf irid jinħatt qabel jibda x-xogħol, biex ikun evitat ir-riskju li jkompli jċedi, b’periklu għall-ħaddiema.

Il-Perit Ivana Farrugia mid-Diviżjoni tar-Restawr u l-Preservazzjoni, spjegat li, l-ewwel prijorità f’dan il-proġett huwa li l-kappella jkollha sistema ta’ pedamenti strutturali taħt l-art komposta minn travi rinfurzati, munzelli u ankri sabiex jiġi evitat li jkun hemm saffi tal-ħamrija instabbli… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 25th October

Readings of the day

First Reading: Rom 6:12-18
Psalm: 123 (124):1-3,4-6,7-8

Gospel: Lk 12:39-48

In those days, Jesus said to his disciples: “But know this: if the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an unexpected hour.”

Peter said, “Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for everyone?” And the Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and prudent manager whom his master will put in charge of his slaves, to give them their allowance of food at the proper time? Blessed is that slave whom his master will find at work when he arrives.

Truly I tell you, he will put that one in charge of all his possessions. But if that slave says to himself, ‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and if he begins to beat the other slaves, men and women, and to eat and drink and get drunk, the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour that he does not know, and will cut him in pieces, and put him with the unfaithful.

That slave who knew what his master wanted, but did not prepare himself or do what was wanted, will receive a severe beating. But the one who did not know and did what deserved a beating will receive a light beating… Read more »
