The Gospel of the day: 9th May

Saint George Preca, Priest and Founder of the Society of Christian Doctrine, M.U.S.E.U.M – Feast
Readings of the day

First Reading: Sir 21:11-17,21
Psalm: 119:33-42
Second Reading: 2 Timothy 2:1-11

Gospel: Mark 16:14a,15-20

Later Jesus appeared to the eleven themselves as they were sitting at the table; and he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation. The one who believes and is baptised will be saved; but the one who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: by using my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes in their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and proclaimed the good news everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that accompanied it… Read more »

Care, Protection and Guidance – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass on the World Day of Prayer for Vocations 2022

  Seminary Vocations Centre, Tal-Virtù Rabat

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Ix-xbieha ta’ Ġesù Kristu ragħaj hi xbieha antika ħafna – fil-fatt ilha mill-ewwel sekli wara Kristu. Jekk aħna mmorru l-katakombi f’Ruma, pereżempju l-katakombi ta’ Domitilla, ta’ Priscilla, ta’ San Kallistu, insibu din ix-xbieha mal-ħajt, li tfakkarna kif mill-ewwel sekli kienet xbieha għażiża ħafna għall-ewwel Insara.

Fuq l-ispalla u fit-triq

L-iktar xbieha antika li nsibu hi dik ta’ Ġesù Kristu bin-nagħġa fuq spallejh, qed jerfagħha; u magħha wkoll dik ta’ Ġesù Kristu miexi u n-nagħaġ mexjin warajh jew madwaru, imma qed imexxihom hu… Read more »

Jesus insists that he will always be with us – The Archbishop

Mass with the Academic Consultation Societas Œcumenica

  St. John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

“In-nagħaġ tiegħi jisimgħu leħni u jiena nagħrafhom u huma jimxu warajja” (Ġw 10:27). Ġesù f’din is-silta tal-Evanġelju jipprova jispjega x’inhi r-rabta tiegħu magħna. Din hija l-għaqda ta’ mħabba. Min iħobb għandu għatx biex jisma’ l-leħen tal-persuna maħbuba. ‘Kemm ħadt pjaċir nisma’ leħnek!’ Bħal meta l-omm iċemplilha t-tifel, avolja jekk kemm isaqsiha: ‘X’sajjart illum?’ Tieħu pjaċir tisma’ leħnu u hu jisma’ leħinha.

“In-nagħaġ tiegħi jisimgħu leħni” (Ġw 10:27)… Read more »

Easter to Pentecost Reflections – Fourth Sunday of Easter

Reflection for the Fourth Sunday of Easter by Bishop Joseph Galea-Curmi

Gospel: Lk 10:27-30

Jesus answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbour as yourself.” And he said to him, “You have given the right answer; do this, and you will live.”

But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbour?” Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell into the hands of robbers, who stripped him, beat him, and went away, leaving him half dead… Read more »
