Forgiving from the heart – The Archbishop

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

“Ma kienx immissek int ukoll tħenn għal sieħbek kif ħennejt jien għalik?” (Mt 18:33). Din hi l-mistoqsija li s-sinjur qal lill-qaddej li kellu jagħtih ħafna; għax is-somma ta’ għaxart elef talent hi somma enormi; impossibbli tħallasha. Din il-mistoqsija ta’ min niftakru fiha, kull darba li tiġina tentazzjoni li nwebbsu qalbna għal xi ħadd; li forsi jkun għamlilna deni, ikun għamlilna l-ħsara, ikun qal xi kelma iebsa fuqna, malafama jew ivvinta gidba fuqna – kalunja; jew għamlilna l-ħsara b’mod ieħor: bis-serq, bl-inġustizzja, forsi bi qtil… Read more »

Readings of the day

First Reading: Joshua 3, 7-10a.11.13-17
Psalm: 113A (114) , 1-2.3-4.5-6

But that same slave, as he went out, came upon one of his fellow slaves who owed him a hundred denarii; and seizing him by the throat, he said, “Pay what you owe.’ Then his fellow slave fell down and pleaded with him, “Have patience with me, and I will pay you.’ But he refused; then he went and threw him into prison until he would pay the debt.

When his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their lord all that had taken place. Then his lord summoned him and said to him, “You wicked slave! … Read more »
