In those days, the crowds asked John, “What then should we do?” In reply he said to them, “Whoever has two coats must share with anyone who has none; and whoever has food must do likewise.” Even tax collectors came to be baptised, and they asked him, “Teacher, what should we do?” He said to them, “Collect no more than the amount prescribed for you.” Soldiers also asked him, “And we, what should we do?” He said to them, “Do not extort money from anyone by threats or false accusation, and be satisfied with your wages.”

As the people were filled with expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Messiah, John answered all of them by saying, “I baptise you with water; but one who is more powerful than I is coming; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandals… Read more »

L-Isqof Galea-Curmi jaqsam ħsibijietu dwar id-dixxerniment u kif fid-dawl tal-Ispirtu, aħna nagħrfu dak li Alla jixtieq minna li hu dejjem l-aħjar għalina. Il-proċess tad-dixxerniment iwassal għall-“iva” tagħa b’azzjoni u determinazzjoni.

Dawn ir-riflessjonijiet huma parti minn sensiela ta’ filmati, li tħejjew minn Behold, li hu proġett ta’ Pastorali Bibblika u Liturġika fi ħdan il-Vigarjat għall-Evanġelizzazzjoni, għal tmiem is-Sena Ġużeppina 2020-2021… Read more »

Reflections on St Joseph by the Bishops (4)

Ir-raba’ riflessjoni dwar Patris Corde tal-Papa Franġisku hi mill-Arċisqof Charles Scicluna fuq it-tema Ġużeppina ‘Bniedem Realista u Fidil’. L-Arċisqof Scicluna jaqsam magħna ħsibijietu dwar San Ġużepp li ma jibżax, anke jekk ħafna drabi kellu jitħabat ma’ futur inċert. Għaliex aħna tant inkunu maħkuma mill-biża’? X’jikkawża l-ansjetà fil-bniedem? San Ġużepp hu bniedem li minkejja ħafna kriżijiet, kellu l-kuraġġ jaċċetta l-għajnuna u l-wens ta’ Alla… Read more »

The voice of a friend is the voice of Jesus – The Archbishop

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Tajjeb nieqfu ftit fuq l-aħħar frażi li jgħid Ġesù llum: “L-għerf ta’ Alla tawh raġun l-opri tiegħu stess” (Mt 11:19). Ħafna drabi Ġesù jinsisti: “jekk ma temmnux dak li ngħidilkom, araw dak li nagħmel”. Kieku jkollna ngħidu hekk, aħna! Lil min jgħidilna: “u inti tparla fil-vojt!”. Araw dak li nagħmel u tifhem dak li ngħid.

Ħaġa sabiħa dik li l-kliem tagħna jaqbel mal-ħajja tagħna għax dan li qed jgħid Ġesù: inti tara l-opri ta’ jdejn Alla u tifhem min hu, kemm iħobbna, kemm hu għaref, kemm hu kbir… Read more »

Psalm: 1, 1-2.3.4 & 6

Gospel: Mt 11, 16-19

In those days, Jesus said to the crowd: “But to what will I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to one another, “We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we wailed, and you did not mourn.’ For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, “He has a demon’; the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, “Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.”  Read more »
