The stones will cry out – Bishop Galea-Curmi

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Jekk jisktu huma, jgħajjat il-ġebel” (Lq 19:40). Dan kien il-kliem li qal Ġesù lil xi wħud mill-folla dakinhar li kien riekeb il-felu fid-daħla trijonfali tiegħu f’Ġerusalemm. In-nies bdew ifaħħru lil Alla b’għajjat ta’ ferħ u b’leħen għoli, u xi wħud mill-Fariżej qalu lil Ġesù: “Mgħallem sikkithom lid-dixxipli tiegħek”. Imma Ġesù weġibhom: “Ngħidilkom li jekk jisktu huma, jgħajjat il-ġebel”.

The Gospel of the day: 16th October

Readings of the day

First Reading: Rom 4: 13. 16-18
Psalm: 104 (105): 6-7.8-9.42-43

Gospel: Lk 12: 8-12

In those days, Jesus told his disciples: “And I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man also will acknowledge before the angels of God; but whoever denies me before others will be denied before the angels of God. And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

When they bring you before the synagogues, the rulers, and the authorities, do not worry about how you are to defend yourselves or what you are to say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that very hour what you ought to say.”

Saint of the day: Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, virgin

God takes care of us – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Hemm kelma li Ġesù jgħidha b’enfasi fl-Evanġelju tal-lum: “tibżgħux”. Hi l-kelma li niltaqgħu magħha ħafna drabi fl-Iskrittura, speċjalment meta Alla jsejjaħ lil xi ħadd u jagħtih missjoni. Dejjem jgħidlu: “tibżax”. U Ġesù nnifsu użaha kemm-il darba mad-dixxipli tiegħu: “tibżgħux”.

Għalfejn Ġesù jgħid “tibżgħux” lid-dixxipli tiegħu? L-ewwel nett, għax aħna qegħdin taħt il-ħarsien ta’ Alla, li jieħu ħsiebna. U għalhekk ma għandniex għalfejn nibżgħu: għax hemm Alla li jieħu ħsiebna… Read more »

Church partners with private sector for a social project in Senglea

Dar Sant’Anna will undergo restoration and will host children from challenging social backgrounds

Il-ftehim ġie ffirmat mis-Segretarju Amministrattiv tal-Arċidjoċesi ta’ Malta, Michael Pace Ross, u minn Nazzareno Vassallo u Natalie Briffa Farrugia f’isem Care Malta.  Preżenti wkoll l-Arċipriet tal-Isla, il-Kanonku Robin Camilleri… Read more »

Your presence on the streets of Gwardamanġa must be a sign of God’s presence – The Archbishop

Mass at the beginning of the pastoral work of Father Joseph Zahra OP as parish priest of Gwardamanga Parish

The Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, Gwardamanġa

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

“Ġesù lemaħ lil ommu u lid-dixxiplu li kien iħobb wieqaf ħdejha” (Ġw 19:26). Il-ħarsa ta’ Ġesù lejn ommu minn fuq is-salib hi ħarsa ta’ mħabba; bħalma hi ħarsa ta’ mħabba lejn id-dixxiplu, li l-Evanġelista stess jgħid: “lid-dixxiplu li kien iħobb” (Ġw 19:26). Ejjew nirrealizzaw li f’dan il-mument ta’ agonija, ta’ diffikultà u ta’ tbatija enormi, din hi l-magħmudija li Ġesù xtaq li l-Missier jevitalu… Read more »

Being a Church that listens is a way of living the Gospel – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Message at the end of A Church that Listens webinar

Il-messaġġ tal-Isqof Galea-Curmi

Nirringrazzja lil min qed jieħu sehem u anki lil min ħa ħsieb l-organizzazzjoni ta’ din il-laqgħa. Naħseb li hi grazzja li qed nagħmlu dan l-eżerċizzju fil-ħajja tal-Knisja f’Malta, li bdejnieh is-sena li għaddiet u li qed nagħmluh iktar b’mod qawwi flimkien mal-ħidma li qed issir fil-mixja sinodali mill-Knisja Universali u li l-Papa Franġisku nieda ftit tal-jiem ilu.

Nixtieq insemmi punt li semma Fr Mario Mangion, li xi ħadd qallu, “Mur u imxi”… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 15th October

Readings of the day

First Reading: Rom 4: 1-8
Psalm: 31 (32): 1-2.5.11

Gospel: Lk 12: 1-7

In those days, the crowd gathered by the thousands, so that they trampled on one another. And Jesus began to speak first to his disciples, “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, that is, their hypocrisy. Nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered, and nothing secret that will not become known. Therefore whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed from the housetops.

“I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that can do nothing more. But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell… Read more »

Leading our neighbour to Jesus – The Archbishop

Mass for the memorial of St Callistus

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Dak li smajna fl-Evanġelju tal-lum hija preokkupazzjoni kbira li dejjem qiegħda mal-Knisja u Ġesù jesprimiha f’din ix-xbieha tal-muftieħ li l-għorrief tal-liġi — illum ngħidulhom il-kanonisti (dawk li jistudjaw il-liġi tal-Knisja wkoll) — jgħidilhom: “Intom ħtaftu l-muftieħ tal-għerf, biex imbagħad intom stess ma dħaltux u żammejtu lura lil min ried jidħol!” (Lq 11:52) Il-muftieħ jiftaħlek l-għerf imma l-għerf jibda mill-qalb tal-bniedem… Read more »
