Mass offered for the martyrs of our time

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa, the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Awżiljarju Joseph Galea-Curmi

Kemm hi ħaġa f’waqtha li llum, meta qed niċċelebraw it-tifkira ta’ San Karlu Lwanga u sħabu martri tal-Uganda, nisimgħu lil Ġesù jgħid: “Alla mhux tal-mejtin imma tal-ħajjin”. Għax f’dan il-ftit kliem ġabar dak li għalih għexu u mietu l-martri tal-Uganda. Mietu biex jagħtu xhieda li hu Alla tal-ħajjin.

San Karlu Lwanga u sħabu kienu 22 żagħżugħ li ngħataw il-martirju fl-Uganda lejn l-aħħar ħmistax-il sena tas-seklu 19 (1885-1887)… Read more »

Pope at General Audience: God does not abandon us, He is companion and guide

  The Vatican

At the centre of Pope Francis’ catechesis on prayer at his General Audience on Wednesday was the figure of Abraham.

The Pope explained that with this “father in faith”, we see a new way of relating to God.

Abraham, recounted Pope Francis, hears a voice that resonates in his life. It’s the “voice that encourages him to uproot himself from his homeland, from the roots of his family,  to move towards a new, different future.”

Abraham’s trust in God

The Pontiff underlined that Abraham does this on the basis of trust and the promise “that his lineage will be as numerous as the stars that dot the sky.”

With this trust, said the Pope, comes a new way of conceiving our relationship with God… Read more »

Let’s give God his due, we belong to God, not to the politician, the king, or the emperor – The Archbishop

Mass offered for our Bishops so that, enlightened by the Holy Spirit, they may continue to make the necessary decisions for the Christian community in our islands

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa, the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles J. Scicluna

Riedu jinbxuh imma qalu verità kbira dwar l-atteġġjament ta’ Ġesù li jġagħalna naħsbu. “Mgħallem, aħna nafu li inti raġel tħobb is-sewwa u li ma tħabbel rasek b’ħadd għax int lejn wiċċ ħadd ma tħares, imma t-triq ta’ Alla tgħallimha kif tassew hi” (Mk 12:14).

L-ewwel talba li nixtieq nagħmel fid-dawl ta’ l-Evanġelju li aħna l-Isqfijiet, is-saċerdoti nimitaw lil Ġesù, inkunu nies li nħobbu s-sewwa, li ma nħabblu rasna b’ħadd… Read more »
