BENEDICT XVI TO SPEAK TO NON-BELIEVERS IN PORTUGAL

Meeting in Fatima on Tuesday, Portuguese bishops said that during Benedict XVI’s visit to Portugal this May 11-14, the Pope will speak to everyone, whether or not they are believers.

“The Pope will speak to all,” said Father Manuel Morujao, spokesman and secretary of the Portuguese episcopal conference.  “The Church does not close the door to anyone and opens her heart to all.”

During a press conference at the end of the meeting of the bishops’ Permanent Council, Father Morujao also said that at the council’s next meeting, a pastoral note on the Pope’s visit will be released… Read more »

Eight seminarians were received as candidates to the priesthood during Mass celebrated by Archbishop Paul Cremona OP, on Friday 12th February, 2010, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Victories, Senglea.

AUSTRALIAN BISHOPS OFFER ONLINE LENTEN REFLECTIONS

As Catholics worldwide are preparing to begin Lent next week, Church leaders are offering resources to deepen their faith through reflections on the Gospel and the Creed.

The Australian bishops’ conference is offering “an innovative online experience” called “The Reflection.”

In a press release announcing the initiative, Archbishop John Bathersby, chair of the conference’s Commission for Mission and Faith Formation, said, “Instead of just giving up something for Lent, why not take up something as well?”

“This year we are asking that you consider spending time with friends and family reflecting on the Scriptures that lead us to this joyous celebration of the Church,” he added… Read more »
