Reflections for Lent – 25th February 2010

L-inqas li hu mistenni

L-inqas li hu mistenni mill-bniedem

mhux li kull persuna

tiġi ttrattata bir-rispett

u jkollha l-istess dritt għall-ħajja?

L-inqas li hu mistenni mill-bniedem

mhux li kull persuna

tkun ħielsa

u kapaċi toħloq

mingħajr ma tkun maħkuma

mill-flus, mir-reliġjonijiet jew mill-istati?

L-inqas li hu mistenni mill-bniedem

mhux li l-art nibżgħu għaliha

bħala ħaġa sagra,

inħarsuha u nsebbħuha

biex tibqa’ l-ambjent

li nistagħġbu bih,

imħejji minn Alla

għal dawk kollha

li jgħixu fih? … Read more »

li qiegħed fuq it-tron tiegħu:

“M’aħniex denji

li nidħlu fil-Preżenza tiegħek.

Ma tajnikx qima!

Ma tajniex ġieh

lill-Isem qaddis tiegħek!

Il-festi tiegħek ma ċċelebrajniehomx

Vanġelu

Bil-qawwa tal-fidi

se nitkellmu fuq il-maħfra tiegħek,

imma fl-istess ħin

u kif inhu xieraq,

sabiex ma nagħmluhiex ta’ mħallef,

bl-ikbar imħabba nuru ħniena

ma’ kull persuna mħawda u mfarrka

jew li tilfet it-triq minħabba l-ħażen.

Mingħajr ma nistennew minnha

l-inteġrità

jew id-dinjità,

u fuq kollox mingħajr ġudizzju,

noffrulha l-mogħdrija

u l-faraġ tagħna… Read more »

BRITAIN CONSIDERS SEX EDUCATION FOR 5 YEAR OLDS

sexual education

Britain’s House of Commons is set to vote on legislation this week that would introduce a program of sex education to primary school children from as young as 5 years of age.

The “Children, Schools and Families Bill” also contains many other clauses which, critics say, is not so much a denial of Catholic teaching “as a whole uprooting of the natural law relationship between parents, children and the state.”

The bill, which Members of Parliament will vote on Tuesday, is causing widespread concern among United Kingdom priests and laity who see it as further erosion of legitimate freedoms… Read more »
