Il-proċess tar-riforma fit-transizzjoni mill-primarja għas-sekondarja wassal lill-iskejjel tal-Knisja sabiex jieħdu diversi inizjattivi. Dawn l-inizjattivi jinsabu fi stadji differenti fil-proċess tat-twettiq.

156 CITIES TO LAUNCH 40 DAYS PRO-LIFE CAMPAIGN

As Friday marks 37 years since the U.S. court decision that legalized abortion, another 40 Days for Life campaign is being launched, this time in 156 cities and three countries. David Bereit, national director of the organization, stated in a press release that “while many see a time of darkness this week” due to the Roe v. Wade anniversary, and as congress “deliberates legislation that could lead to dramatic increases in taxpayer funding for abortion, I see a time of great hope.” He explained that he sees hope in the fact that pro-life supporters throughout the nation, and in Canada and Australia, “are willing to step out in faith and host 40 Days for Life campaigns.”

ECUMENICAL SERVICE

An Ecumenical Prayer Service was held on the evening of Thursday 21st January 2010, in St Andrew’s Scots Church, Valletta. This was the main event held in Malta on the occasion of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which comes to a close on Monday 25th January 2010.

IRISH BISHOPS TO MEET WITH POPE AGAIN

Pope Benedict XVI greets Irish Cardinal

Benedict XVI will meet again with Irish bishops as that country continues to recover from revelations about the sexual abuse of minors by clergy. Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, director of the Vatican press office, confirmed today that the Pope has called Irish prelates to the Vatican for a Feb. 15-16 meeting.

CHURCH WELCOMES EL SALVADOR APOLOGY FOR WARTIME CRIMES

Representatives of the Vatican and the local Church welcomed an apology on behalf of the El Salvador government made Saturday by the country’s president.  President Mauricio Funes offered a surprising apology on behalf of the government for crimes committed during the nation’s long civil war. MASS FOR ENGAGED COUPLES GETTING MARRIED THIS YEAR

On Sunday, 17th January 2010, Archbishop Paul Cremona OP celebrated Mass for couples who will be getting married this year (2010). More than 300 couples attended the ceremony, which was held at the Capuchin Church in Floriana. The couples present have completed the Cana Movement marriage preparation course.
