When the news of a fire which engulfed a nursing home in Quakers Hill, Sydney, emerged, the Emigrants’ Commission of the Church in Malta communicated with the Dominican Sisters in Blacktown to see if they had news about any Maltese who might have been injured in the fire. This was done in view of the fact that many Maltese live in the vicinity of Quakers Hill.
Sr Georgina Sultana informed the Emigrants’ Commission that she had already made contact with government officials responsible for Quakers Hill Nursing Home. She informed them that the Dominican Sisters were ready to help any people who needed refuge. In fact, the sisters have already prepared a place to welcome Maltese residents.
