‘Towards a liturgy that draws us and changes us’ is the theme chosen for the in-service course for the Clergy 2023 in order for diocesan priests and religious to understand more clearly how the liturgy, that is all the Church’s celebrations by which Christians worship God, nurtures within them and God’s people a spirit of prayer, and particularly that the Liturgy leads to an encounter with the Risen Christ.
Br Goffredo Boselli was the principal guest speaker during these three days of discussion. Br Boselli is a renowned, Italian liturgist and author of a number of books in this field. Throughout the course he spoke about how priests are formed by the liturgy in the light of Pope Francis’ letter, Desiderio desideravi. By his talks, Br Boselli led the priests to a greater understanding of the meaning of the gestures and words used during celebrations of worship, and how the liturgy transforms us into better persons each day.
Archbishop Charles Jude Scicluna brought this in-service course for the Clergy to a close with a message of encouragement for each priest to take care of his own life and to remember the pastoral commitment to God’s people, especially in relation to the way that Sunday Mass is celebrated.
The in-service course for the Clergy was held between the 22nd and the 24th May 2023 at the Archbishop’s Seminary.
