Inspired by Pope Francis visit to Malta, Rethink Culture will be holding a public event next month to discuss the complex issues shaping Maltese culture.

Inspired by Pope Francis’ visit to Malta last year a series of podcasts, entitled Rethink, had a number of guests including activists, academics, politicians and members of the clergy discuss the Maltese reality.

Now following the successful podcasts hosted by Mark Cachia from the Justice and Peace Commission, which were also aired on 103 Malta’s Heart, a public discussion will be held on Thursday 1 June in Valletta.

A wide range of topics will be discussed, including migration, sustainable development, cultural heritage, governance, economic systems, and the church in Malta.

“Based on Pope Francis’ visit to Malta in 2022 and supported by the Vicariate for Evangelisation and Justice & Peace – Malta, rethink.mt began as a podcast with various people active in Maltese society, to discuss the kind of society we are hoping to build together.”

Inviting the public to attend the public dialogue which will be coordinated by Cachia, Rethink said the discussion will centre around the opinions of the participants.

“This event is intended as an opportunity to explore diverse perspectives that we may or may not be aware of, as well as be exposed to a broader picture of the realities in Malta. We believe in the importance of moving forward, daring to reimagine and rethink our functioning society,” Rethink said.

The event will be held on Thursday, 1 June at 7pm on the first floor of Is-Suq tal-Belt, Valletta. Whoever is interested in attending can register here.
