This study was conducted by the British research society YouGov. Every year it publishes a list of the most admired people in the world. On this occasion, they have interviewed more than 43,000 people from 42 countries.

In the list of most admired women is Michelle Obama, followed by Oprah Winfrey. Actress and film director as well as an ambassador for the UN refugee agency, Angelina Jolie, has moved from first to third place. Among the 10 most admired women are also Emma Watson, Malala, Hilary Clinton and Taylor Swift.

In the men’s list, there are no major changes from the previous year: Bill Gates remains in the first place, followed by Barack Obama and actor Jackie Chan. In fourth place is the president of China, Xi Jinping and in number eight of the ranking is the Dalai Lama. Donald Trump has taken over Pope Francis’ 14th position and now the pope occupies number 15.

In general, the list of women is dominated by artists, and for men political figures.

However, the classification changes at a local level. For example, in Italy, the pope is the most admired person.
