On Wednesday, 23rd June, 2010, Archbishop Paul Cremona OP will ordain nine young men to the priesthood, at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Mdina. The celebration will commence at 6.30 pm. The general public is invited to attend and pray for the sanctification of priests, especially those who are being ordained. The nine seminarians to be ordained priests are:
Rev. Deo Debono OSA, Rev. Stefan Galea (Naxxar), Rev. Mark Ellul (St Sebastjan, Qormi); (wara) Rev. Emmanuel Schembri (Christ the King, Paola), Rev. Mario Sant OFM Conv., Rev. Blake Camilleri (Balzan), Rev. Josef Briffa SJ, Rev. Marc Andrè Camilleri (Lija), Rev. Noel Borg (St Helen, Birkirkara).
A general statement by the nine men: “It has been a great blessing to have been prepared for the priesthood during the year dedicated to priests, where we were given many opportunities for preparation, modeled on Christ’s priesthood, through many initiatives which were offered to the Christian community throughout the year. All the different experiences, good ones and not so good ones, which the Church has encountered, accompanied by the teachings of the greatest theologian of our times, Pope Benedict XVI, were means to further appreciate our vocation, which the late Pope John Paul II referred to as a gift and a mystery of Christ. One particular saying which will remain deeply embedded in our hearts is the motto, culled from the words of the Curate of Ars, St John Maria Vianney: fidelity of Christ, fidelity of the Priest. We appeal to you to keep us in your prayers that we may be faithful ministers of Christ.”
