• Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. has appointed Fr David Farrugia as the new parish priest of Ħal Safi.

    Fr David Farrugia was born on the 24th April, 1979. He received his primary education in Ħal Qormi (St George), his secondary education in the Junior Lyceum Mikiel Anton Vassalli tal-Ħandaq, Ħal Qormi, and his post-secondary education at Junior College, Msida. He carried out his tertiary studies (Philosophy & Theology) in the Faculty of Theology at the University of Malta.

    Fr David was ordained to the priesthood on the 29th June, 2004. He commenced his pastoral work in Ħal Tarxien parish where he served for two years, one of which as vice-parish priest. He was then appointed vice-parish priest of Ħal Luqa parish and rector of Ħal Farruġ for four years. He was also a spiritual director at St Benedict’s College – Boys Secondary School in Ħal Kirkop for six years. During the last four years Fr David has been serving as Chaplain of Junior College, Msida, and as a priest in Santa Luċija parish.

    The number of parishioners in Ħal Safi is around 2,340 gathered in around 721 families.
