• Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna appointed Ms Yvonne Mallia, a warranted social worker with 25 years experience in the social welfare sector, as the new Director of Fondazzjoni Sebħ.

    Fondazzjoni Sebħ is the Maltese Church NGO which cares for around 40 children in residential care offering them a safe, loving and nurturing environment to meet their needs. The foundation also supports 13 families who currently live at Dar Qalb ta’ Ġesù. This is a domestic violence shelter offering safety and hope for a better future. The foundation also runs a childcare centre and a service of community social work in Ħamrun and Marsa.

    Mallia succeeds Andrew Azzopardi, who will retain his role on the Board of Administrators of Fondazzjoni Sebħ and Head of the Church’s Safeguarding Commission. He described Mallia as a person with a wealth of experience and competence, at the service of those who are supported by Fondazzjoni Sebħ.

    Yvonne Mallia began her career as a front-line professional and then progressed to senior leadership and management roles. Prior to joining the foundation, her principal role was that of Director of Aġenzija Appoġġ, where she was instrumental in the development of various key services in Malta. Last year Mallia joined Fondazzjoni Sebħ as Family Services Manager, where she formed part of the senior management team. She is married and has two teenage children.
