The Secretariat for the Laity is organising a conference on the occasion of World Day for the Laity, on Thursday, 24th February 2011. The theme for this year is ‘The role of lay persons in the parish’. Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. will be participating and closing the conference with a short speech. The conference which starts at 6.00 p.m. will be held at St.Monica School in Birkirkara.

The evening will commence with a discussion from a panel made up of parish priests and lay people. Afterwards, Mons. Charles Camilleri, Pastoral Secretary, will give a speech.

The Delegate for the Archbishop, Mr. Joe Farrugia, wishes to invite all those who participate and give their time to work for the mission of the Church to attend and take an active role in this meeting. Mr.Farrugia highlighted that although each parish lives a different reality to the other, it is still clear that the participation of the laity in the pastoral work of the Church is very important to our country.
