On Thursday 8th March 2012, a Thanksgiving Mass was celebrated at the Cathedral in Mdina, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the ordination to the priesthood of Archbishop Emeritus Joseph Mercieca.
Concelebrating Mass with Mgr Mercieca were Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P., Mgr Bishop Mario Grech, Mgr Bishop Francis Adeodato Micallef OCD, Monsineurs of the Metropolitan Chapter and many diocesan and religious priests, amongst which was Fr Gwann Mercieca, Mgr Mercieca’s brother. The congregation was led by Dr George Abela, President of Malta.
