Missio Malta welcomed priests, nuns and religious persons currently carrying out missionary work in Malta, at a specially organised meeting last month. The activity, which takes place twice a year, gathered 32 missionaries from nine countries.

A couple with two children needs more than €700 a month to buy food and other essential products, a study by Caritas found.
Conducted by Caritas and nine university students, the study examined the price of food and essential goods.
The methodology of this study was based on an evaluation of prices of goods at two supermarkets in the Central and South of Malta, a supermarket in Gozo, two minimarkets in the North of Malta, three vans selling produce – one in the South, another in the Centre, and one in Gozo – a mini-market selling vegetables and fruit in the North, and the farmer’s market in Ta’ Qali… Read more »
The Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) supports the statement endorsed by more than 160 faith leaders worldwide, urging the EU institutions to adopt a robust legal framework to hold companies accountable for environmental damage and human rights abuses.

Archbishop Charles Scicluna concluded a two-day pastoral visit to London, where he met with Maltese patients and their families who are currently undergoing treatment in the United Kingdom.
During this visit, Archbishop Scicluna had the opportunity to meet with Maltese residents at Puttinu House in Sutton. He presided over a Mass and encouraged the patients to remain steadfast in their faith. The annual meeting is attended by 120 National Directors from all Pontifical Mission Societies from around the world to discuss matters of policy and strategy related to the operation of the world-wide organisation.

The BOV Volleyball Marathon ended at midnight Sunday but not before raising the sum of €366,817.
Forty players went through fifty-three hours of volleyball that was officially whistled in at six in the evening on Friday by the Minister for Inclusion, Voluntary Organisations and Consumer Rights, Julia Portelli and continued non-stop since then.

Earlier today, Archbishop Charles Scicluna visited the St Michael Hospice in Santa Venera which is nearing completion and is expected to receive its first patients towards the end of this year. The premises, previously known as Adelaide Cini Institute, cover approximately 15,000 square metres and were given to Hospice Malta by the Church in 2018. The aim is to transform it into the first complex in Malta to provide holistic, palliative care that respects the right to life and human dignity… Read more »
The Soup Kitchen OFM Valletta is the winner of the 2023 European Citizen’s Prize, having been nominated by MEP David Casa.
“The Franciscan Friars began operating the Soup Kitchen OFM Valletta project in 2021, soon after inflation of food prices drove those on the periphery to seek aid.”
