The Pope: Clericalism is a scourge that defiles the face of the Lord’s bride; it enslaves God’s people

Intervention of Pope Francis at the 18th General Congregation of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops

I like to think of the Church as God’s faithful people, saint and sinner, a people convoked and called with the force of the beatitudes and of Matthew 25.

Jesus, for His Church, did not take up any of the political schemes of his time: not the Pharisees, nor Sadducees, nor Essenes, nor Zealots. No “closed corporation”; He simply takes up the tradition of Israel: “You shall be My people and I will be your God”… Read more »

Book fair to be organised in aid of St Patrick’s School in Sliema

Why do the Salesians of Don Bosco organize cultural and artistic events? The answer comes from Don Bosco himself, he who dedicated all his life to the education of the young people, especially the most poor. “He had a humanist approach to education”.

Major project to save the Chapel of the Annunciation in Siġġiewi

Bdew ix-xogħlijiet ta’ restawr u l-konsolidazzjoni taħt l-art tal-kappella storika tal-Lunzjata, fiż-żona magħrufa bħala Tal-Għolja tas-Siġġiewi, b’investiment ta’madwar €1.4 miljun.

Din il-kappella qed tiffaċċja r-riskju imminenti ta’ kollass, primarjament minħabba sfidi ġeoloġiċi u ġeomorfoloġiċi assoċjati mat-terren sottostanti tagħha. Tant hu hekk li parti mis-saqaf diġà ċediet, u s-saqaf irid jinħatt qabel jibda x-xogħol, biex ikun evitat ir-riskju li jkompli jċedi, b’periklu għall-ħaddiema.

Il-Perit Ivana Farrugia mid-Diviżjoni tar-Restawr u l-Preservazzjoni, spjegat li, l-ewwel prijorità f’dan il-proġett huwa li l-kappella jkollha sistema ta’ pedamenti strutturali taħt l-art komposta minn travi rinfurzati, munzelli u ankri sabiex jiġi evitat li jkun hemm saffi tal-ħamrija instabbli… Read more »
