F’dawn l-aħħar ħames snin, żewġ terżi taż-żwiġijiet li saru f’Malta u Għawdex, jew 66.8 fil-mija, kienu reliġjużi. F’Għawdex biss, iż-żwiġijiet reliġjużi kienu 78 fil-mija. Bejn l-2007 u l-2011 fil-gżejjer Maltin kienu rreġistrati mal-Istat b’kollox 12,148 żwieġ, li minnhom 8,111 kienu reliġjużi. Minn dawn, il-maġġoranza kbira, jew 8,071, kienu bir-rit Kattoliku; l-oħrajn kienu bir-rit ta’ reliġjonijiet oħra.

Mission Sunday
Pope Benedict XVI today issued his Message for World Mission Sunday, to be celebrated in October of this year. The theme of this year’s Message is taken from the Motu proprio, Porta fidei with which Pope Benedict XVI proclaimed the Year of Faith: “called to radiate the word of truth that the Lord Jesus has left us.” The Pope’s Message is divided into four parts, preceded by an introduction that places this year’s World Mission Sunday in the context of the 50th anniversary of the II Vatican Council, the Conciliar declaration Ad gentes, the Year of Faith and the Synod assembly on the New Evangelization… Read more »

Consecrated life – Living for God and for others
Consecrated life entails giving oneself completely to God and living for others, Pope Benedict XVI said. Speaking at his weekly general audience Jan. 25, the pope continued his catechesis on Christian prayer, looking at the Last Supper, when Jesus instituted the Eucharist and the ministerial priesthood.

Reflecting on and actively participating in major national debates constitutes an essential part of the Kummissjoni Interdjoċesana Ambjent’s (KA) remit. Consequently, the KA has, on several occasions, responded to various consultation documents addressing various aspects of Maltese society, thus actively contributing to the ensuing national debate.
