Pope chooses Cardinals for advise

On Wednesday 17th April 2013, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Anġlu Farrugia, paid a courtesy visit to Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P., at the Archbishop’s Curia. For the second consecutive year, the Literacy Team in collaboration with ‘Let me Learn and Writing Programme within the Secretariat for Catholic Education are organizing a Literacy Week for Church Schools children, entitled “Fairies tell Tales”. The activities are being held at The Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta, and at the Lower Barrakka. Over 1000 students will be participating.

Pope Francis with Spain's PM

In the Vatican Apostolic Palace, His Holiness Francis received His Excellency Mr. Mariano Rajoy Brey, prime minister of Spain. Prime Minister Rajoy then met with the Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, S.D.B., accompanied by Archbishop Dominique Mamberti, secretary for Relations with States.

Boston's tragedy

Pope Francis, through Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone, S.D.B., has sent a telegram to Cardinal Sean O’Malley, O.F.M. Cap, archbishop of Boston, Massachusetts, USA in response to the attack that took place in that city during its annual marathon causing three deaths and leaving over 100 wounded.

Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

This morning, on the occasion of the birthday of Pope emeritus Benedict XVI, the Holy Father Francis began the celebration of Mass in the chapel of the Domus Sanctae Marthae, inviting all those present to pray with these words: “Today is Benedict XVI’s birthday. We offer the Mass for him, so that the Lord be with him, comfort him, and give him much consolation.”
